I recently purchased this oil on board signed James Lewy 1894. Can you tell me anything about the artist and what it may be worth? Little is known about Lewy, but, I can tell you that he was born in Germany in 11/1848 - Immigrated to America in 1868 - Lived in New York in 1880 (Listed in Census as an artist/ painter) and Lived in Chicago in 1900. Not too surprisingly most of his auction results have been from auction houses in New York and the Chicago area. His works typically have brought in the mid-hundreds. Your work is typical of what has hit the market, a still life of fruit spilling from a basket or box and from the 1890's. I also saw a seascape and a couple barnyard scenes.  I have a James Lewy landscape dated 1896. As you can see in the attached photo, there is a windmill in the center background. Could he have passed thru Pennsylvania Dutch country on his journey from New York to Chicago and spotted this scene.  Also any idea what it might be worth?...

Can you identify this guitar for me and give me an idea of it's worth? You have a late 1930's Supertone Hawaiian Lap Steel Guitar. It was likely made by The Harmony Co out of Chicago for Sears, Roebuck & Co. This would be considered a "house brand" guitar. There are definitely some condition issues and you would have done well to have accepted the $200 you were offered.

Can you please tell me how much this set of Hollohoza pottery is worth? Your Tray, Trinket Box and Ashtray were made by Hollohaza Porcelain Manufactory Co out of Hungary. The company started producing porcelain at their plant in 1957 and in the early 1960's pieces of the kind you have. Unfortunately, there is neither a big demand or value for your grouping. Value is at the garage sale level. Some figurines and other items by Hollohaza can bring some decent money, but, many household type items are not held with the same esteem. 

Could you please tell me how much this China Curio Cabinet is worth? Your cabinet was made by John A Ebert Furniture Co out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1854-1959). They moved their operations to Red Lion, PA in 1918. Ebert had showrooms from coast to coast. It was likely made sometime between 1895-1915 with some Empire Style Elements. Always popular with the curved glass sides, this Cabinet would be fairly priced at around $600 in today's market. 

Could you please identify and give a value for this oil lamp? You have a Thousand Eye Variant base. The Thousand Eye Variant pattern is known to have been made by Adams and Co (1851-1891). However your font and collar are different than typically seen. Catherine M.V. Thuro's Oil Lamps II: Glass Kerosene Lamps shows this base on pg 89 with a Diamond and Dot Patterned Font with a different shape and collars. Most other examples of this base I found have the same font with a mixing and matching of colors: Apple Green, Amber and Ice Blue. I did find one with a matching font ($200). The example on the right can bring $100-$140 depending on color. Yours may be a variant made by Adams or by a completely different manufacturer.  Thousand Eye Variant Base w/Typical Font (Thuro)

How much is my Koken Barber Chair worth? The hydraulics work. I am looking to sell it.  Your Barber Chair was likely made in the 1920's and is a fairly standard Koken Model. It has been reupholstered and is unfortunately missing it's swivel foot rest and brackets. In it's current condition, it would likely bring around $100 at auction. A replacement foot rest and brackets would cost around $200. A complete chair in this condition with a better upholstery job, would be in the $550 range.  

Can you please help me identify and value this set of china? Your pieces are marked "LeMieux China" which is a mark that not much is known about. I will say that it has b een i ncorrectly  attributed to being manufactured in France, Bavaria or Germany. I believe whomever used the "LeMieux" mark was at a minimum a China Decorating Company and quite possibly made some of their own pieces. Either way, the pieces were manufactured in the U.S.A. and not imported as blanks. There are several indications that the company was located in Chicago or the Chicago area. The plates you have are very similar to work done by Pickard China which was located in Antitoch, Ill. I would say these date to the 1940's. The motif depicts people in traditional 18th century life and attire. Your grouping is worth several hundred dollars to the right person.
