1960's HORIKOWA SWIVEL-O-MATIC ASTRONAUT BATTERY OPERATED ROBOT

Image
Can you tell me what the 1960's Swivel O Matic Astronaut is worth in the original box? The Swivel-O-Matic Astronaut was made by S-H Co (Horikowa). It has 5 actions, 2 cycles and measures 11 1/2" tall. It was made in the late 1960's and is consistently a $200 Robot with it's original box in ex/nm condition.

THE 14R FASHION DOLL

Image
This doll is marked 14R 2006-16.  Can you tell me if it's worth anything?  I don't see any other markings on her.  She does have white high heel sandals on her feet and her eyes close when you lay her down.  She is made of a hard plastic.  Thanks a bunch. The 14R Fashion Doll was made in the 1950's and very early 1960's. The mold marking is on the back of the head. This mold was distributed by many companies and bore a close resemblance to Ideal Toy's popular Revlon doll. The dress on your 14R does not appear to me to be original to the doll.  The 14R is very common and being kind of a knock-off is not worth much. You can easily find them for less than $25.

OLD WOODEN DETROIT FREE PRESS WAGON

Image
This wagon belongs to a friend of mine and she can't find any information about it.  She would like to know how much it's worth. These newspaper delivery wagons are always great conversation pieces, if you have the room to display them. This dates from the 1930's-40's era. I would say that $200 is a realistic selling price for this low side, metal wheel version. I could see it selling for less at a live auction and for a bit more in a retail environment.

NILOAK POTTERY WINGED VICTORY VASE

Image
I was wondering if you could help me with identifying this vase. It   looks like it's marked McCoy, but it's very faint. Yes, the mark is not a strong one, but, it is actually Niloak Pottery out of Arkansas. Your vase was called the Winged Victory Vase, designed by Lee Joe Alley. It was produced during WWII in the 1940's.

UHL POTTERY GRAPE AND LEAF STONEWARE PITCHER

Image
I was wondering if you could help me with identifying this pitcher. It is marked 183 on the bottom.  Your stoneware grape and leaf pitcher was made by UHL Pottery out of Evansville, IN. c. 1920's-1930's.

STANDARD COMPUTING SCALE COMPANY - SCALE

Image
I was wondering if you could give me an appraisal on an antique scale You have a nice scale made by The Standard Computing Scale Co. out of Detroit, MI. The company was formed in 1889 and existed into at least the 1940's. Your scale is nice, but, common. At live auction it could be expected to receive around $75. On E-Bay or a retail outlet, it can get more. The marquee on the top can bring $30-50 by itself. Scales are tricky for resale. Sometimes they can sell immediately in a retail situation and sometimes it can takes months. They almost always are overpriced.

OIL ON BOARD BY JAMES LEWY

Image
I recently purchased this oil on board signed James Lewy 1894. Can you tell me anything about the artist and what it may be worth? Little is known about Lewy, but, I can tell you that he was born in Germany in 11/1848 - Immigrated to America in 1868 - Lived in New York in 1880 (Listed in Census as an artist/ painter) and Lived in Chicago in 1900. Not too surprisingly most of his auction results have been from auction houses in New York and the Chicago area. His works typically have brought in the mid-hundreds. Your work is typical of what has hit the market, a still life of fruit spilling from a basket or box and from the 1890's. I also saw a seascape and a couple barnyard scenes.  I have a James Lewy landscape dated 1896. As you can see in the attached photo, there is a windmill in the center background. Could he have passed thru Pennsylvania Dutch country on his journey from New York to Chicago and spotted this scene.  Also any idea what it might be worth?...
