SEVRES STYLE GARNITURE SET - URNS
You are correct! These are too nice to put into a garage sale! You have a Garniture Set (Although it appears to be a marriage...the base of the large urn is different from the pair) made in France around the later part of the 19th or early part of the 20th century. It is considered in the Sevres Style and may have even been made in the area of Sevres. The pair of tall urns were hand painted and signed by an individual named Duroy. The bottom is marked "B.Altman & Co" which was a reknown New York based Department Store. These would have been made in France for Altman & Co to sell. The shorter and wider urn was hand painted and signed by an individual named Guy and has the Chateau de Longpre hallmark on the bottom and "Made in France". All 3 pieces are cobalt blue with gold gilt decoration and bronze mounts. Each has a hand painted courting scene depicting French citizens from the 18th century. The tall set would likely sell for around $500 at a higher end auction house. The large urn would likely bring around $350. That being said, similar looking groupings can bring into the thousands. If it is indeed a set, it would be estimated over $1,000. My estimate is based on the hallmarks and what similar pieces by the same manufacturer bring.
