TRU SPORT BICYCLE

Hi, Chris.
I found your blog while searching for information for a patron on a TruSport
bicycle he has in his garage. I'm hitting a dead end with any search I do. The tires say Made in West Germany, and the patron claims 'someone' told him the bike was from at least the 1920s and probably made by a Philadelphia company. However, given what the tires say, either that date just wrong or the tires are much newer. Any help you can provide in terms of an approximate price or background information will be great.

The bicycle was sold by Edward K Tyron Co which was located in Philadelphia, Pa. That particular version of the long standing family business existed from 1904-1962. The Tyron's had long since discontinued the manufacturing part of their business and were in the wholesale distribution business when this bicycle was made. TruSport was a brand name that Tyron owned and used for various sporting good products and bicycles. So, the bicycle would have been made by a bicycle manufacturer for Tyron. I do not know who actually made the bike and Tyron would not have mentioned it in their advertising. It appears to be a 1940's style bike. Similar bikes of the era can easily bring $100-200 in non-restored condition.
